Ohanaeze Ndigbo Accuse Tinubu of Plotting to Remove Ekweremadu

2 Min Read

The youth wing of Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ohanaeze Youth Council has accused National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of plotting to remove Ike Ekweremadu as the deputy senate president.

In a statement issued in Umuahia, the OYC National President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the council insisted that if Tinubu doesn’t back out, he shall be declared an enemy of Ndigbo.

Isiguzoro said “Being fully aware that the present plot is being orchestrated by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, we ask him to re-trace his steps forthwith or we shall declare him an enemy of Ndigbo.

“We are aware that Buhari is under intense pressure to endorse the ‘Ekweremadu must go plot.’ This is the time for the President to prove that he belongs to nobody, Tinubu inclusive, but that he belongs to everybody, Ndigbo inclusive.”

Meanwhile another Igbo Socio-Cultural organisation Izu-Umunna Cultural Association, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari and APC will be held responsible if anything should happen to Ekweremadu.

The resolution, which was signed by the President, Dr. Ugo Ihekuna and Secretary General, Chief Elvis Chukwu read, “Izu-Umunna affirms that Senator Ike Ekweremadu is a trusted national leader and has in several ways provided leadership strength and acumen in the administration and legislative matters both in the National Assembly and the Pan African Parliament.”

“We call on the leadership of APC to unconditional accept the will and decision of all the Nigerian senators and warn that the Igbo Nation will President Buhari and APC leadership responsible should anything happen to Ekweremadu as his election followed due process and manifested the collective will of his colleagues.

“The association also calls on the president and members of APC to stop overheating the polity and face the challenges presently confronting the country; insecurity, indiscriminate bombings and shooting of innocent citizens.”
