Action Group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has risen to defend the former Interim Chairman of the ruling party, Chief Bisi Akande, saying his recent statement on the APC crisis stems from his patriotism.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Segun Dipe, the group described Akande as a man who steered the party from its conception to birth.
The group said “Here is the man who steered the ship of our party through the turbulent waters from conception to birth. He did so with sincerity of purpose and great sacrifice that even President Muhammadu Buhari, a man of few words, not given to praise-singing, confessed that he respected Akande’s patriotism while acknowledging how he led the interim party ‘with dexterity and integrity.”
Recently, Akande faced criticism from a lot of quarters when he said the party crisis was caused by some northern elites and the Peoples Democratic Party members within the APC who are rocking the party boat with indiscipline and disloyalty.
