A 38 year old housewife, Mrs Ternenge Tersoo has been sentenced to death by hanging by a Makurdi High Court for the murder of her one year old step son.
The husband reported the second wife to the police in 2012 that she snatched the baby from his nanny and strangled him to death.
When the case came up, she outrightly denied the allegation and did not show any remorse. She testified for herself and called no witness to support her claim.
Prosecution called two witnesses including the investigating police officer who tendered a medical report of the autopsy carried out on the deceased baby at the General hospital Vandeikya.
Delivering judgement, the judge, Justice Jennifer Ijohor said evidence before her showed that the prosecution has proved his case beyond reasonable doubt so as to warrant conviction of the convict.
He advised barren women to look up to God instead of engaging in nefarious acts.
She was later taken to the federal minimum prisons Makurdi where she is awaiting death by hanging.
