Senator Theodore Orji (PDP-Abia) has described the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President will stabilise the senate.

Orji added that his emergence is proof that politics is not about war, it is about negotiation. While speaking with journalists after the adjournment of the first session of the eight national assembly, he said “What has happened today (yesterday) has shown us that politics is all about negotiation. It is not war always. When you negotiate, you give and take, and things will work out well for us. He, Saraki, will stabilise the Senate. That is one of the major functions that he has to do.

“The new senate president has said that he will stabilise the Senate, and when you stabilise the hallowed chamber, you have stabilised the country.”

Former Presidential Adviser on National Assembly Matters, Senator Florence Ita Giwa also added that their emergence would strengthen the democracy.

She said “I congratulate my brothers and colleagues, Senators Saraki and Ekweremadu, as they emerge leaders of the eighth Assembly.

“Their emergence will no doubt reinforce democracy and pave way for necessary check and balances. “I am therefore confident that with their wealth of experience, especially that of Ekweremadu, Nigerians will benefit from their robust contributions and leadership.

“I implore them to be all inclusive and ensure every member has a sense of belonging. This is the surest way to make legislative progress and impact significantly on the Nigerian people.”
