Super Eagles invitee, Chindeu Udoji has said if given the chance to prosecute the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Chad, the Home-based Eagles will do the job convincingly.
Super Eagles coach Stephen Okechukwu Keshi on Thursday evening released the list of 26 local players he has invited to camp preparatory to the Nations Cup qualifier against Chad on June 13 and the Enyimba captain is one of them.
Udoji said the task goes beyond the invitation to justifying the confidence reposed in him by the coaches of the Super Eagles.
He therefore said he is not going to the camp to make up the numbers but to fight for a chance to make his debut for his beloved country against Chad.
“I am really happy that after waiting for so long, God has answered my prayers. It has always been my dream to play for my country. Now that the opportunity has come, I will do my best to justify the coaches’ confidence in me.
“I won’t be in Abuja to make up the numbers in camp but to fight for one of the shirts. It is not going to be easy but it’s possible. Furthermore, I believe if given the necessary encouragement, Home-based players have the quality to beat Chad,” he said.
Super Eagles will open camp in Abuja on Tuesday ahead of the first leg encounter against Chad at the Ahmadu Bello stadium Kaduna.
