Fate has dealt a serious blow to Alkassim Abdullahi, a father who on Tuesday afternoon lost three children who got drowned in a well at Tudun Salmanu area of Bauchi metropolis.
Bauchi State Police Command’s spokesman, Haruna Muhammed, said the children, aged between two and three years, died in a well dug in an uncompleted building in the neighbourhood.
According to him, the remains of the children were deposited in the mortuary of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi for post-mortem examination to be conducted on them.
“On May 12, 2015, at about 13:00hrs,one Abdallah Alkassim, male and 3 years, Huzaifa Alkassim male and 2 years, and Hauwa Alkassim female and 2 years, all children of one Alkassim Abdullahi, male, of behind Danga security office, Tudun Salmanu, Bauchi, got drowned in a well inside an uncompleted building at the neighbourhood.
“Scene was visited by police detectives attached to Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate Division and victims rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi and were all certified dead by a medical doctor,” the police spokesman, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), stated.
DSP Mohammed, who noted that the case was under investigation, added that the bodies would be released to the relatives for burial according to Islamic rites after the post-mortem examination.
