If I Don’t Honour Public Engagements, I Might Be In School Studying – Sambo

3 Min Read

The wife of the vice president, Hajia Amina Sambo, yesterday, has revealed that she would be going back to school to gather more knowledge after the expiration of her husband’s tenure on May 29th.

She said there could be times in the future when the demand of her academic engagements would not allow her to honour invitations to public engagements.

“I will like to continue to leave my doors open in case you will call on me. In case I say I am having exams (I am going back to school); so, do not be offended, I might be studying, but be assured that I will always be with you,” Hajia Sambo stated.

She, however, did not disclose which institution or course of study she intends to pursue.

Hajia Sambo, a graduate of political science from Bayero University, Kano, spoke at a ceremony organised in her honour by the Coalition of Nigerian Muslim Women at the National Mosque, Abuja.

The Coalition said it was honouring Hajia Amina and the wife of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Hajia Aisha Mohammed, for their efforts towards uplifting humanity.

The vice president’s wife urged Nigerians to pray for the incoming administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

She added that all was now set for the inauguration of the first Islamic Library in Nigeria, which is located in Kaduna State, urging the women to strive to donate a book each to the facility.

She commended the Muslims for their support for the current administration, and called on them to extend the same hand of fellowship to the incoming administration of Buhari.

The vice president’s wife however begged the women to forgive any real or imagined shortcomings of the outgoing administration, assuring them of her continued support even as a private citizen.

“I want to assure you that on my part, in my own little way, I will continue to be of service to humanity. I will continue to help the less-privileged in the society, the downtrodden, the physically challenged, and most importantly, to my Deen. Please, always pray for the incoming administration,” she said.
