Jonathan Appoints New PEF, NCDMB Secretaries, Urges NASS to Confirm Gwarzo As SEC DG

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday approved the appointment of Mrs. Asabe Asmau Ahmed and Mr. Denzil Amagbe Kentebe as Executive Secretaries of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF) and the Nigerian Content Management Development Board (NCDMB) respectively.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on media and publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, the appointment takes immediate effect. According to the statement Ahmed, who is currently the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, takes over from Mrs Sharon Adefunke Kasali who has been Executive Secretary of PEF since 2007.

The new PEF Executive Secretary hails from Niger State and holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, respectively.

She is expected to put her years of experience in public service to good use in re-engineering, repositioning and re-invigorating PEF for present and future challenges.

Similarly, Jonathan has confirmed the appointment of Kentebe as Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Management Development Board (NCDMB).

Kentebe, an architect with years of experience in strategic planning and policy management, takes over from Engineer Ernest Nwapa who has been Executive Secretary of the NCDMB since April 2010.

Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday urged the Senate to confirm the appointment of Mounir Gwarzo, as the new Director General of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC).

In a letter to Senate President, President Jonathan also appointed a new chairman and seven new national commissioners for the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), the body overseeing hajj operations in the country.

In the letter, Jonathan nominated Abdullahi Lugga Mohammed, as the new chairman of NAHCON, while Yusuf Adebayo, from North Central, Abdullahi Modibbo Saleh, from North East and Adeyemi Ademola, from South West were nominated as new National Commissioners in the commission.

Others are, Adamu Mohammed from North Central, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed from North West, Danjuma Salihu Usman, from North East and Ibrahim from South East.
