Nigeria has lost about one thousand five hundred mega watts of electricity, from the fourth of April, this year till date.
This was disclosed recently by Permanent Secretary of the ministry of power, Godknows Igali, while receiving the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Civil defence corps,Ade Abolurin at the ministry of Power in Abuja.
He cited the increasing spate of vandalism of power equipment across the country as responsible for this problem

On his part, the Comptroller General of the Civil And Security Defence Corps, Ade Abodunrin agrees that vandalism of power sector equipment have been on the rise noting that successes recorded by his men in apprehending criminals had not been achieved easily
Both officials agree that checking the excesses of these vandals in the power sector must be given utmost priority When the new administration takes over from the twenty ninth of may this year, if this menace is to be curbed once and for all.
