Former Enyimba and Kano Pillars coach Salisu Yusuf will be the new assistant coach to Stephen Keshi when he returns as the Super Eagles gaffer.
The El-Kanemi Warriors’ coach has been mentioned as a possible replacement for the outgoing Daniel Amokachi, but ‘D Black’, as Salisu is fondly called, will be the next Super Eagles assistant coach.
Daniel Amokachi would no longer be working with Keshi as soon as his contract was finalized on Tuesday with the Nigeria Football Federation.
And as it stands, Salisu will become Stephen Keshi’s assistant in place of Amokachi and will be incharge of the home based Super Eagles team that will prepare for the CHAN 2016 qualifiers.
Salisu had previously worked with the Super Eagles, serving as one of the assistants to Samson Siasia during his brief reign as the Super Eagles coach.
It remains unclear why the NFF have insisted against Amokachi, but it is believed the top-shots at the Glass House want a coach from the core northern part of the country to make up the numbers.
It has also been reported that Keshi has had a falling out with Amokachi, even though his camp at the NFF have denied such.
