Juventus have booked their first appearance in the Champions League semi-finals since 2003 at the Stade Louis II.
The Old Lady arrived in the Principality with a narrow advantage and were rarely troubled by the French outfit as they progressed courtesy of a 1-0 success on aggregate.
Not even the most ardent of supporters would have been expecting a spectacle rich in goalmouth action and the anticipated cagey affair saw a first period end with very little to shout about.
Monaco edged the possession and attempts with Geoffrey Kondogbia fizzing two long-range efforts wide while Andrea Barzagli was fortunate not to put through his own net after clever play from Joao Moutinho and Bernardo Silva on the right.
The first leg had been decided by a hotly disputed penalty and Les Rouges et Blancs were left feeling aggrieved once more when Kondogbia’s plea for a spot kick was waved away after he was sandwiched between Giorgio Chiellini and Arturo Vidal.
The hosts continued to probe following the interval but struggled to break down a stubborn Juventus defence. When there was a lapse, substitute Dimitar Berbatov wasn’t alert enough to beat Gianluigi Buffon to a loose ball as frustration began to get the better of Leonardo Jardim’s men.
A late surge failed to materialise for Monaco and the Old Lady almost put the seal on their progress, but Andrea Pirlo thumped the woodwork with a stoppage time free kick.
