The Nigeria Football Federation and the out of contract coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, on Friday failed to sign contract papers for the Head Coach job of the national team.
Authoritative sources said the development was due to Keshi’s refusal to apologise to NFF chieftains he “abused” weeks back in the heat of the contract talks.
Again, the NFF boss, Amaju Pinnick, was in London while the National Sports Commission is yet to be officially briefed about decision to re-engage Keshi.
NFF president, Amaju Pinnick is understood to have jetted out the country, to tie up a deal with a potential sportswear manufacturing company, while Vice President, Seyi Akinwumi was not in Abuja.
“I’m in Lagos and the president is not in the country,” Akinwumi told Goal. “When we are unveiling we will let you know.”
No new date has been fixed for the contract signing ceremony. However, there are also speculations that the NFF is waiting on a change of regime on May 29, to announce a new handler for the national team.
