World number one Novak Djokovic swept his Croatian opponent aside 6-0 6-3 in little over an hour to take his place in the last four.
Novak Djokovic of Serbia returns the ball to Marin Cilic of Croatia during their quarter-final match at the Monte Carlo Masters in Monaco April 17, 2015
Djokovic, who now has a 12-0 lead over Cilic in head-to-heads, won 91 percent of his first service points in the first set to steamroller the reigning US Open champion 6-0.
It was tighter in the second set but there was no stopping Djokovic, who has dropped only 12 games this week at the Country Club, from claiming victory.
Having already won two ATP 1000 events and the Australian Open in 2015, Djokovic is threatening to dominate the game in a way that Roger Federer once did.
It is the Serbian’s best start since 2011 and bookmakers even have him as the favourite to win the French Open, above nine-time champion Rafa Nadal.
