Tiger Woods has announced that he will take part in The Masters at Augusta, despite not having played a tournament in almost two months.
Woods’ participation had been in serious doubt after his terrible showings in his last few tournaments, the 14-times Major winner missing the cut in Phoenix and forced to withdraw from the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines – the latter one of his favourite events on one of his favourite courses, a venue where he has won eight times.
But the 39-year-old superstar ended speculation on Friday night with a simple statement posted on his website: “”I’m playing in the Masters,” he said.
“It’s obviously very important to me, and I want to be there. I’ve worked a lot on my game and I’m looking forward to competing. I’m excited to get to Augusta and I appreciate everyone’s support.”
