Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, has expressed his regrets over missing a late penalty against Liverpool on Sunday.
Louis van Gaal’s men were already 2-1 up, when Martin Atkinson punished Emre Can for a foul on Daley Blind in the area.
Rooney’s spot-kick was pushed away by Simon Mignolet and the United striker said he probably should have given it to Juan Mata, who scored two decisive goals before then.
“Big big result,” he wrote on Twitter. “These are the ones that you remember, a lot more than just 3 points. Mr @juanmata8 magic, just magic.”
The 29-year-old has not scored at Anfield in 10 seasons and the jinx is set to continue.
