Strong Opposition Is Good for Our Democracy – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has said that strong opposition is good for our democracy and the opposition party should be grateful to him because he fostered their existence.

Jonathan who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim at a roundtable conference in Abuja tagged: ‘The Other Side of Goodluck Jonathan’s Administration,’ said “President Jonathan believes a strong opposition is good for our democracy. The opposition should be very grateful to Mr. President. Say whatever you want to say, it doesn’t matter, we enjoy it.”

He added that his administration has allowed freedom of speech which has nurtured the democratic values of free and fair elections.

Meanwhile the first lady, Patience Jonathan has reportedly said that if elected President Goodluck Jonathan will give women 45 per cent affirmative action this time if re-elected.

The First lady while speaking during Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Women Presidential Rally in Akwa Ibom said “Remember when the men were campaigning, I just follow them quietly because I was waiting for them to give me go-ahead. I was waiting for them to tell me what they have for Nigerian women.

“And they told me that this time, we have given you 35 per cent. Go and tell their women that if they vote us back, that we are going to give them 45 per cent.”
