Police Arrests 26 ‘One Chance’ Fraudsters

About 26 men who have been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public have been arrested at different spots while carrying out their nefarious activities. They have been identified by some of the victims.

“The suspects are Dele Dapo, Mike Adiegbe, Prince Dona Dodo, Blessing James, Hope Nwachukwu, Innocent Obimba, Cyril Peter, Ifeayi Sunday, Ene Joseph, Felix Maakue, Frank Obi, Okwunagu John Emeka, Uzoma Ajumbo, Alex Obeke, and ChukwuEbuka Naiji.

“These 15 suspects above were located in a different area and the following exhibits were recovered from them: one black-coloured Gulf 2, ash-coloured Toyota Cricket,” said the source.

The source continued: “Two suspects, Ikechukwu John 22 years of age and Kenneth Exike, aged 35 were arrested during the weekend at about 2:40 pm, by surveillance team from Durumi Police Division while on patrol.

“These suspects who are members of a four man ‘one-chance gang’ were using unpainted taxis and commercial motor cycle popularly calls Okada to hurt their praise under the guise of unpainted taxis called kabu-kabu operators.”

“Kelvin Akpotu, Eze Enoyomo, Nuwa Ireka and a female Veronica Okange, these suspects belong to one chance syndicate, all resident in Utako were arrested on during the weekend at about 4:10 pm along Jabi by RCC, by Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) Operatives of Command while luring a female victim into their waiting Abuja painted Taxis with Registration Number XA 273 PKG which have been impounded.

“On the 25 of February 2015, at about 2:30pm, the Anti-car theft men arrested one Steven Agede who trailed one Abubakar Toyin from a Bank in Wuse to Universal Basic Education Commission, broke through the driver’s side of the glass and removed money. He was arrested before he could escape.

“At the weekend at about 1:40 pm along Idu Industrial area, a gang of one chance operating with an ash coloured Gulf car was intercepted and two female members of the car were arrested. Efforts is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.”

When contacted, the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Wilson Inalegwu, said all the 26 suspects confessed to the crime “and they will all be arraigned to court on completion of investigation.”
