Ex-Super Eagles captain and head of NFF Technical Study Group, Austin ‘jay Jay’ Okocha, has emerged the new Delta State Football Association Chairman, having won Friday’s polls.
Okocha, 41, polled 26 out of 27 votes to win his co-contestant, Evans Agbo, who was only able to get a vote.
Okocha, who had served as vice chairman before the elevation, replaces Amaju Pinnick, who announced his intention to relinquish the post on the day he was elected President of Nigeria Football Federation, September 30, 2014.
The former PSG, Bolton Wanderers and Hull City player becomes one of the few former footballers to enjoy such huge transition from the field into the boardroom in Nigerian football.
Along with Okocha, fellow ex-internationals like Edema Fuludu and Victor Ikpeba have also been brought on board the Delta State FA, as vice chairman and member of the board respectively.
