A former Director General of the Imo Broadcasting Corporation, Theophilus Okere, 85, allegedly stabbed his wife to death on Monday.
According to a report by theCable, the 85yr old retiree suffered from dementia and reportedly commited the act in error.
Dementia is characterized by a decline in critical thinking faculties including loss of memory which affects the daily activities of an affected individual.

According to a family source, the octogenarian stabbed his wife to death while she was sleeping and had no idea of the entire incident. He told his family members that his wife was still asleep when asked.
”Okere has been down with dementia and the family has been managing the problem. Even today that he stabbed his wife to death, when he was asked why he did it, he responded that his wife was still sleeping.
”The other Sunday, Okere went to church and said that his car was missing when in fact the car was parked in his compound.”
The 77yr old late Mrs Okere was a retiree of the Imo State Polytechnic and had been married to her husband for 50 years.
Spokesperson for the Imo State Police command, Orlando Ikeowu confirmed the incident in a statement.
“It is true that the former director-general of the state-owned broadcasting corporation, Mr T.C. Okere, about 85-years allegedly stabbed his wife to death this morning. The command has commenced investigation into the matter,” he said.
