There was trouble when a 6 storey building under construction suffered a collapse this morning on 444 Crescent , Citec Villas , Gwarinpa, trapping 5 laborers.
The building was supposed to be a hotel and the incident happened around 1 a.m.
Of the 5 laborers trapped inside, three have been rescued by combined efforts of the Police, NEMA and FEMA.
PM news reports that according to Babafemi Ojudu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters, the iron rods used for the pillars gave in like wood and the concrete work was quite brittle and unable to hold the structure together.
According to Ojudu, “Thank God it was not completed and inhabited by lodgers before collapsing. It would have been tragic.”
As at the time of writing this reports, efforts were still ongoing to rescue the two remaining laborers trapped under the rubble.
