6 Cartoons Demanded To Be Banned On DSTV For Being Pro-Gay

1 Min Read

A total of six cartoons have been banned by the Kenya Film Classification Board, KFCB, for allegedly being “pro-gay”.

The kids cartoon showing on Nickelodeon (DStv 305) and Cartoon Network (DStv 301) were ordered down as the KFCB directed MultiChoice to immediately halt the airing of the cartoons on DStv.

Accoring to the board, the ‘pro-gay’ cartoons is “normalizing, glamorizing or even glorifying homosexual behaviour” and damaging “family”.

The board further noted that the Nickelodeon cartoons from Viacom International Media Networks Africa, VIMN Africa, which includes Loud House, The Legend of Korra and Hey Arnold, and the Cartoon Network shows, Steven Universe, Adventure Time and Clarence from Turner Broadcasting have contravened classification guidelines.

The censor board claimed that the alleged 6 pro-gay cartoons “are intended to introduce children to deviant behaviour”.

In a statement issued by the board, it noted that the cartoons “are obnoxious and inappropriate material” adding that it “targets children and seeks to impair their moral judgment on the institution of family”.

KFCB boss, Ezekiel Mutua, while speaking on the development noted that “the board has written to MultiChoice, the owners of DStv, to cease with immediate effect the airing”
