Nasir El-Rufai, governor of Kaduna State, has said that 50 almajiri children, who were deported from Kano State have tested positive to COVID-19 in Kaduna.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, had confirmed a total of 66 cases of COVID-19 in the state, out of which 50 are almajiri children according to the statement by the governor on his verified Twitter handle.
El-Rufai said:
“COVID-19 Update: The Kaduna State Ministry of Health, this evening (Saturday), confirmed receipt of 16 more positive results, 15 of them from almajiri. The state has now recorded 50 cases from repatriated almajiri. Active cases have risen to 59.”
