Essence Evans a mother, singer and Yoga enthusiast, this week got social media talking when she posted that her five-year-old daughter pays rent.
Essence explained that every week her daughter gets $7 in allowance but she explained to her daughter that when she is older she would have to use her earning on bills.
To demonstrate this she makes her daughter give her $5 back, stating that “$1 is for rent, $1 for electricity, $1 for cable and $1 for food.”
The remaining $2 is for the child to do what she likes whether spend it or save. However what the girl does not know is that the $5 is actually going away into a savings account which will be handed over to her when she turns 18.”
Meaning if the child decides to leave home she will be leaving with $3,380. Essence broke down that:
“This strategy not only prepares your child for the real world, but when they see how much real bills are, they will appreciate you for giving them a huge discount.”
Essence has urged her 30,329 followers to share the post for other mothers to see. So far the post has received 318,877 shares and 228,000 comments. whilst news stations around the world have covered her story.
