Accolades have continued to trail the heroic deed of a 5-year-old boy in the US who crawled inside a burning house to alert his sleeping grandmother that their house was on fire.
The boy from Phelan, San Bernardino, California had been sleeping inside their one-storey house on Saturday when he noticed a fire.
Instead of running outside, he reportedly crawled inside a hallway to his grandmother’s room to wake her up, thereby saving her from the fire.
By the time fire services arrived on the scene of the incident, heavy smoke and flames were reportedly shooting from all sides of the house.
It was at that moment they realised the family’s dog had not made it out alive.
Firemen then went into the house, and found the dog alive, curled up in the bathroom. They promptly rescued the Chihuahua.
Fifteen minutes later, they were finally able to completely put out the fire.
In a statement released by authorities, the fire outbreak was caused by a spark in a space heater placed too close to combustible materials, AP reported.
