There are a few things that you have to take care of when you are a diabetic and here they are.
1. Your food
The food that you eat is the most important thing you should worry about when you are a diabetic. Listen to what your doctor says about eating certain foods and stick to the diet that the doctor tell you. Also never skip a meal when you are a diabetic. It not only makes you weak, but can also lead to other health complications. Try to avoid food that has a lot of processed sugar.
2. Exercise
You need to be physically active as much as you can when you are a diabetic. Physical activity be it a mild exercise or doing chores around the house will ensure that you are in good health. Physical activity not only helps you keep your weight in check but the right exercise will also help your body produce more insulin. You will also have more energy levels when you are physically active.
3. Medication
Just as it is important to take the right food at the right time, it is also important that you do not forget to take your medication every day. Along with your diet and exercise, it is your medication that will help you keep your sugar levels in check. Keep track of your sugar levels and visit the doctor regularly to find if you should continue with the same medication or go for something different.
4. Take care of your wounds
Wounds do not heal very quickly when you are a diabetic. If you get hurt or scratch yourself and it becomes a wound, you should take real care of it. Never let it open and let it get infected. Get it treated with a doctor and keep monitoring the wound till it heals.
5. Curb your drinking and smoking
If you drink and smoke, you should either try to quit or at least keep it to a minimum. Alcohol and tobacco can do your body some real damage when you are a diabetic. They are not really the best things to be put in your body when you have diabetes.
