The Nigeria Police Force have arrested and paraded 45 suspects for armed robbery, murder, cultism, rape and arson in Bayelsa state.

The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Mike Okoli, assured residents of the state of continuous Police vigilance, while parading the suspects to newsmen.

He recalled that 5 suspects were earlier arrested for their roles in last month’s break-in of the home of ex Governor of Bayelsa, Seriake Dickson, as well as the murder of one Inspector of Police in Toru Orua Community of Sagbama Local Government Area (L.G.A) of the state.

Okoli stated that after thorough investigations, men of the Police apprehended the five suspects who broke into the home of the former Governor in hope of finding hidden treasures.

He however noted that, while the suspects owned up to their roles in planning the break-in, they however claimed they did not execute the mission.

Okoli explained that the matter will be handed over to the law courts for the next stage of action.

In related news, Okoli disclosed that a married man aged 41 who works for the Bayelsa Minisry of Education, was arrested for allegedly raping a virgin currently serving in the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), aged 25.

The unnamed suspect had coerced the victim into giving up her virginity.

Also, two leaders of the Greenlanders and Bobos militant groups, were arrested over cult rivalry in the state capital, Yenagoa.

The leader of the ‘Bobos’ cult was identified as Finidi Aaron, while the leader of the ‘Greenlanders’ cult group was identified as Richard Derigha.

Okoli disclosed that both suspects were connected to the office break-in of telecommunications company, MTN, as well as other heinous crimes.
