A 4-year-old Child has been swept away by flood in Lagos.

Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA are currently searching for the child. The rescue team began their search at 38 Fashola street, Papa Asafa, Orile, Agege.

Vanguard reports that the incident happened around 10 am during the torrential rainfall with attendant heavy flooding.

Director-General of LASEMA, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident, saying that the agency received a distress call from a witness.

“Response team from the agency has been dispatched immediately with search and rescue operation ongoing,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.

Also, The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has cautioned motorists against over speeding during the rainy season in order to avoid road crashes.

Mr Olusegun Aladenika, the FRSC Unit Commander in Ore, Ondo State, gave the warning while speaking with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ore.

Aladenika also advised motorists to avoid using worn-out tyres, ensure vehicles wipers were functional, headlamps and rear lights working perfectly.
