At least four students died and 14 were injured when a school offering Islamic education collapsed in the town of Buruku in Jos, Plateau state on Sunday.
The North Central Coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency, Abdulsalam Muhammed confirmed this, saying “We are still working under the rubble for more bodies and injured.”
According to a concerned parent who talked to the media, the collapse of Abu Naima Primary and Secondary School in Bukuru was due to poor construction and hastened by heavy rainfall in the area.
The building was said to have caved in with 40 students of different age grades on the premises.
Muhammed said the injured persons have been taken to Plateau Specialist Hospital in Jos for medical attention.
