300 foreign exhibitors to participate in Jos trade fair

3 Min Read

No fewer than 300 exhibitors from seven countries would participate in the 2018 Jos Trade Fair, an official told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Ms Bolchit Barshep, the MD/CEO of the consulting firm working with Plateau Chamber of Commerce Industries Mines and Agriculture (PLACCIMA) on the fair, said measures had been put in place for a successful outing.

“We are expecting over 300 exhibitors from 7 countries namely: India, Egypt, Pakistan, Ghana, Mali, Senegal and Niger.

“We are also expecting national exhibitors from the 36 states of Nigeria for the fair holding from Oct. 16 to Oct. 28 at the Jos Polo Field,” Barshep told NAN on Sunday in Jos.

She assured participants of adequate security as the organizers were working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure safety of lives and property within and outside the venue.

Barshep added that the state government was fully involved to support the security efforts, stressing that nothing would be left to chance.

She said that this year’s edition focuses on sustainable development of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in a challenging economic environment.

Barshep announced that a magazine, Plateau Business Hub would be launched during the opening ceremony of the fair.

“We also have GIZ sponsoring 6 MSMEs alongside Plateau state Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Industries and will be showcasing various potentials of the state.

“The potentials are drawn from all relevant sectors of Plateau economy particularly in the areas of tourism, agriculture, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), sports and entertainment,” she said.

Barshep said that her firm, Anista had partnered with a recording company in Abuja for a one year record deal with the winner of its youth empowerment platform ‘Back to the Roots Concert’ Season 3.

According to her, the partnership is to ensure that youths are well engaged during the 17-day programme.

“Jos Trade Fair is the largest platform in Northern Nigeria where commercial and social activities are boosted nonstop for 17 days; bringing the world to Jos.

“We appeal to the good people of Plateau to take full advantage of the various opportunities available at the trade fair,” she said. (NAN)
