A 30-year-old man who is suspected to have poisoned an 11-year-old Hajara Ahmed to death has been apprehended by the Bauchi state police command.
Hajara is the daughter of Chief Imam of Bauchi Central Mosque, Bala Ahmed Baban Inna.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Bauchi State Police Command DSP Haruna Mohammed said the suspect Jarelu Ahmed killed and buried his victim in his room in order to conceal his crime.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Monday August 31 at about 6pm.
“Police Detectives attached to Township Division have arrested one Jarelu Ahmed, male and 30 years of Railway road Bauchi over the incident,” the police spokesman Mohammed said in a statement.
Mohammed said the scene of the crime had been visited by forensic experts attached to the State Criminal investigation department and “the victim body was exhumed, photographed and taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Teaching Hospital for post-mortem examination.” The case is under investigation, he said.
