Authorities in Washington DC, in the U.S. said three soldiers drowned on Thursday after their vehicle overturned while attempting to cross a flooded stream in Texas.
Six additional soldiers remained missing, while three others were rescued, the Fort Hood Public Affairs Office said in a statement on Friday.
It said that the incident occurred when the military vehicle was caught in a flood while crossing Owl Creek near the Fort Hood army base.
It added that search and rescue efforts were underway, including helicopters and search dogs, in effort to locate the missing soldiers.
Texas region has been hit by heavy rains and severe flooding in recent days.
