The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested three persons believed to have been involved in the murder of a prominent cattle dealer in the state, Alhaji Jibril Abdulkarim, and three of his employees over the weekend.
The victims were shot dead as they plied their trade in their private abattoir in the state capital, Yenagoa on Saturday.
The State Police Commissioner, Mr Asuquo Amba revealed that the suspects were presently assisting the police with their investigations.
However, Amba did not identify the suspects or state where they were being held, but stressed that the victims appeared to have been well known to the suspects.
Before his death, Abdulkarim was the state chairman of the Cattle Breeder’s Association in Bayelsa.
Amba said, “We have so far taken three suspects into custody and we are profiling them and their communication.
“We are looking at their phone communications. From the facts before us, it is an assassination done at a close range and the deceased must have been known to them.
“We are equally looking at the leadership issues and election of the Fulani traders. We are following the clues that we have and I am hopeful that we shall have a breakthrough.”
