Mayowa Balogun, Danteni Tijani and Dolapo Badmus all from Nigeria have been nabbed in the United State of America with fake documents and a total of $54,000 in a stolen Maserati.
The car was reported to be packed with counterfeit passports, drivers’ licenses, and cash.
The trio was arrested on January 23 and the stolen car was traced back to Ohio by the police, but as their crime has been deemed minor, the three are back on the street.
Two of the criminals, Balogun and Badmus, were charged only with possession of altered documents, a class 4 felony which allowed them to receive I-bonds and walk out of court.
The third member of the gang, driver Tijani was slapped with a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, this was later dropped, however.
The Presiding judge, Judge William Raines set Tijani’s bond at $100,000, and ordered that he be placed on electronic monitoring if he managed to post that amount.
He was able to raise the bail amount and was allowed to walk.
The police are at a loss as to why the charges against the three criminals were so soft as the charges could potentially have been far harsher.
The three are to appear in court later this month.
