The Police on Tuesday arraigned three men: Jacob Emmanuel, Daniel Kavie, and Orsur Gabriel, in a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly flogging a female neighbour with cable wire.
The defendants, who reside at Karmajiji, Abuja, were arraigned on a three-count charge, bordering on joint act, assault, and causing grievous hurt, offences they denied committing.
The prosecutor, Edwin Ochayi, told the court that the victim, one Mrs Vivian Erafe of the same address with defendants, reported the matter at the Wuye Police Station, Abuja, on April 16.
He said that the defendants trespassed into the complainant’s apartment, dragged her out from her room, and used cable wire to flog her.
Ochayi added that the defendants also used a broken bottle to inflict injury on the complainant’s ankle, adding that she is still undergoing treatment
The offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 97, 265 and 246 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Hassan Ishaq, granted the defendants N15, 000 bail each, with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case until May28, for hearing. (NAN)
