3 Illegal Bunkerers Burnt To Death In Isolo Area Of Lagos

2 Min Read

Three men were burnt to death in an early morning accident on Tuesday in Isolo area of Lagos after their vehicle carrying plastic jerry cans of fuel caught fire.

The Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Mr Rasak Fadipe, made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) while giving an update on the organisations activities.

According to him, the vehicle, a Civilian bus, fully loaded with plastic jerry cans containing petroleum products caught fire at Nusurotu Alli Street, Isolo at about 5.10 a.m.

He said the three persons were caught up in the inferno while trying to escape from the bus, stressing that one other person, however, escaped with high degree of burn.

The director said that the survivor, now receiving treatment at Isolo General Hospital, told fire service men that they were coming from Imota area of Ikorodu.

“It is likely they were involved in petroleum bunkering in Ikorodu area. The driver lost control and hit a stationary truck.

“The driver tried to swerve to the other side and the vehicle ran into the gutter, spilling the contents of the jerry cans which resulted to fire.

“It took my men about an hour to put out the fire in the gutter and the vehicle.

“The driver was one of those roasted to death in the bus,’’ Fadipe said. (NAN)
