2 Min Read

Three men were on Tuesday brought before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Taiwo Road over alleged unlawful possession of dangerous weapons.
The defendants, Ismail Yusuf, 28, Umar Shuaibu, 25 and Yunusa Ibrahim, 28, are residents of Makera, Nasarawa and Trikania areas of Kaduna, respectively.
They are being tried for conspiracy, inciting disturbance, mischief, unlawful possession of dangerous weapons and theft.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Samuel Kangtoma, told the court that the defendants committed the offences about 7.00pm on Feb. 13.
Kangtoma said that the police in Kakuri Division received information that some hoodlums had attacked some civilian JTF at Makera in Kaduna with dangerous weapons.
The prosecutor said that when the DPO and his team rushed to the scene, they arrested the defendants with cutlasses, knives, sticks and bottles with which they allegedly injured the civilian JTF.
He said the defendants also stole money from passersby.
Kangtoma said the offences contravened Sections 59, 78, 313, 393 and 271 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, Law 2017.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Musa, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Musa ordered the sureties to show evidence of a year tax payment to Kaduna State Government.
He adjourned the case until March 12 for further hearing.(NAN)
