2baba attacks NLC over EndSARS protests

2 Min Read

Legendary Nigerian musician, Innocent Idibia aka 2baba has berated the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over its alleged silence amidst the EndSARS protests.

2baba said that the successes recorded so far by the EndSARS protests calls to question organised labour’s industrial actions.

Recall that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu disbanded the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on Sunday, October 11.

The disbandment was in response to the protests.

Also, the Presidential Panel on Police Reforms approved the five demands of the protesters last week.

The organised labour was scheduled to embark on strike on September 28 to protest hike in fuel price and electricity tariff.

However, the strike was suspended following negotiation with the Federal Government.

While the electricity tariff increment was suspended, the fuel price increment remained.

Furious Nigerians described the organised labour – Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and affiliate unions – as sell-outs.

Reacting, in a Monday tweet, 2baba challenged the NLC to speak up in support of the EndSARS protests.

“So I take it that Naija Labour Congress (were) not doing strikes for the betterment of naija workers but for personal interest because I don’t understand their inaction in all this,” the musician stated.
