Lawal Abubakar, A 27-year-old man, in Abuja, abducted a 12-year-old girl and claimed that he was her boyfriend.
Abubakar pleaded guilty to charges of abduction and gross indecency of a minor.
According to his report the girl came to his house to tell him that her parents had travelled. He allegedly took her back to her parent’s house, only to discover that they were not around, so he decided to keep her safe in his house for two days.
Abubakar then proceeded to have sexual intercourse with the girl whilst she was in his house.
Mohammed Marafa the judge, convicted him and ordered that he be kept in police custody. Marafa has adjourned the case until Dec. 21, for sentencing.
Babajide Olanipekun, the Prosecutor, told the court that the convict tricked the complainant’s 12-year-old daughter by inducing her to his house and kept her for three days. He stated the offence contravened Sections 272 and 285 of the Penal Code.
The defence counsel, Moses Ugwummadu, pleaded with the court to show mercy arguing that the parents of the girl were negligent to have stayed for days without knowing the whereabouts of their 12-year-old daughter.
