24 returns as Jack Bauer spotted in London

2 Min Read

The new season will keep the series’ real time format, but skip hours between episodes to only run for 12 installments.

Jack Bauer is taking a half day off – but he’s still putting in plenty of work.

The first trailer for Fox’s upcoming 12-episode series, “24: Live Another Day” hit the Internet late Monday, reminding fans just how much they missed Kiefer Sutherland’s human WMD.

Four years of living “off the grid” haven’t seemed to mellow the former CTU agent very much. He surfaces in London just in time to try to thwart an asssassination attempt on the U.S. president.

“Take him alive if possible, but you all know what this man is capable of,” says a voice over a radio as a military team closes in on Bauer’s position.

Redacting for spoilers, they clearly didn’t bring enough reinforcements.

It’s also four years since the last “24” season ended, and when the show reutrns on May 5 on Fox, the show’s real time conceit will look a little different.

Executive producer Howard Gordon has said the show will skip hours between certain episodes to to fill out the full day promised by the show’s title.

“What do you think Jack, if you stop the attacks, all will be forgiven?,” says Mary Lynn Rajskub’s Chloe, one of the few supporting characters that has managed to survive working with Bauer.

“There’s no going back for me,” her former boss answers.

But thankfully for “24” fans, that’s not exactly true: Jack’s back doing what he does best.
