Twenty-one persons including school children and bystanders have died in a Wednesday collision between a school bus and a trailer in Enugu State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) disclosed this on Thursday, blaming the crash on dangerous driving.
According to Enugu Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr. Ogbonna Kalu, the incident occurred at Mgbowo in Awgu Local Government Area of the state.
He said that no fewer than 50 persons were aboard the school bus when it collided with the trailer.
Kalu said 21 persons died in the incident.
“21 persons have been confirmed dead and more than 50 persons were in the school bus.
“Also of note is that not all the deaths were school children. Those working on the roadside were part of the casualties.

“From available information, the accident was caused by dangerous driving,” the sector commander said.
The school bus was said to be conveying pupils of Presentation Nursery and Primary School, Awgu owned by the Catholic Diocese of Awgu to their homes when the incident occurred.
Unconfirmed reports say all the occupants of the school bus died in the accident.
