At least 21 bandits have been killed in a fierce encounter with troops of Operation Hadarin Daji at Zurmi in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The incident occurred on Monday, April 20, military authorities stated.

Unfortunately, four Nigerian soldiers lost their lives during the exchange of gunfire.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche disclosed these in a Wednesday statement in Abuja.

However, he said that the troops have begun to aggressively patrol the area to exert their dominance and build the confidence of locals.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria requests the general public to provide credible information on the bandits to assist the Military to rid the country of the criminal elements,” the statement read in part.

According to the defence spokesman, more details would be provided after the exploitation operation in the area.

Earlier, Enenche disclosed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria through its Air Component of Operation GAMA AIKI neutralised several armed bandits at Maguga in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

He disclosed that the operation, which was conducted in support of Operation THUNDER STRIKE, was executed on 19 April 2020 sequel to reports that some armed bandits, clad in black attire, had been sighted along with a large herd of rustled cattle in the area.
