The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that Rabiu Kwankwaso, the ex-presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), lacks support in Kano State. Ganduje asserted that the Kwankwasiyya movement, once influential in Kano, is now defunct. He made these remarks during the 8th and 9th APC Kano State House of Assembly Forum Dinner, held in honor of prominent party members.
Represented by the APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, Ganduje emphasized that those who previously supported Kwankwaso now regret their decision. He expressed surprise at Kwankwaso’s claims of having the people’s support, stating, “I can swear to God, if not for our internal issues, he (Kwankwaso) wouldn’t have won any election in Kano. This time around, he will see the reality.”
Ganduje further urged APC members in Kano to unite in order to reclaim the state from NNPP in the 2027 elections. He highlighted the importance of unity, saying, “Unity is the only way out for us. It’s the only option we have to achieve our goals. God has already intervened in our situation.”
He also criticized the current government, accusing it of distorting the state and expressing confidence that the next election would be a turning point. “The current government is distorting the state, and we are just waiting for the right time. The next election will be like moving a hen away from its eggs,” he added.
