A group, Middle Belt Professional Forum (MBPF), has berated Mamman Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew over his comment that the 2023 presidency should be decided by competence and not “turn-by-turn”.
In a statement released in Makurdi, Benue State, the group said Daura was a “deceptive hypocrite” scheming for a way to impose another Northern “bigot” on Nigerians through the backdoor.
The group said that Daura should first apologise to the citizenry for the alleged incompetence his uncle has visited on Nigerians.
MBPF lamented that under Buhari, Nigeria has become the poverty capital of the world, corruption has grown in leaps and bounds and insecurity, banditry, terrorism, and “ethnic-based cleansing” have rendered Nigerians unable to sleep with two eyes closed even in his home state Katsina.
“As Nigerians, we are ashamed on his behalf that all the promises that Buhari gave to Nigerians, he failed woefully to deliver on any so far,” the group said.
MBPF said it would only support a candidate of Igbo extraction in 2023, describing its stance as sacrosanct and non-negotiable.

According to the group, other ethnic and political groups must come together and support an Igbo President in 2023 as this is a matter of justice, fairness and equity.
It added, “Mr. Daura should stop playing god. We wonder why he has not asked himself where his friends in the cabal who boasted like him a few months ago are currently.
“We do not pray that such a fate visits him but he must shut his mouth and go back to Daura and enjoy his loot.
“No one can usurp the sacred power of Nigerians to choose their President. Power belongs to God.”
