The Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, says National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu may not get the needed support for his rumoured 2023 presidential ambition in the core north.
According to the rights activist, many party bigwigs in the region were secretly nursing ambitions of their own and would not back Tinubu for the nation’s top job.
He stated this while reacting to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode’s comment on Tinubu’s broadcast on Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Edo State.
Fani-Kayode noted that the former Lagos governor’s comment served as comic relief, adding that it could make the APC candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu lose the election.
Reacting to Fani-Kayode’s comment, Adeyanju stated, “The irony of it all is that the core Northerners in APC with presidential ambitions are laughing at him.”
The former Lagos governor has yet to announce if he would be vying for the presidency.
He stated earlier in the year that politicking this early in President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term could derail the administration.
