Shehu Sani

Senator for Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Shehu Sani has advised presidential candidates that failed to get former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement to seek out other former presidents’ blessings.

Sani said this in a Monday tweet in apparent reaction to the controversy generated by Obasanjo’s endorsement of the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi for the 2023 presidency on Sunday.

Recall that the APC Presidential Campaign Council had described the endorsement as “worthless“, while the Director of New Media of the council, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode tagged it as an “exercise in futility“.

Reacting, Sani said that Obasanjo should not be attacked because of his choice.

He said those that felt hard done by Obasanjo’s position should approach former Presidents Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida, and Abdulsalami Abubakar for their endorsement.

“Obasanjo has made his choice. He is entitled to his opinion. He should not be attacked.

“Those who can’t get his endorsement should seek that of Gowon, IBB or Abdulsallam; they are equally credible former military and political leaders.

“Ordinary President of Berekete is also available,” Sani said.
