Senator for Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Shehu Sani has advised 2023 presidential candidates to consider Nigeria’s religious diversity before choosing their running mates.
He stated this in a tweet on Friday as political parties round off their presidential primaries.
The tweet came same day that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) set a June 17th, 2022 deadline for presidential candidates to name their running mates.
Some of the leading presidential candidates are Asiwaju Bola Tinubu – APC, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar – PDP, Peter Obi – Labour Party, and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso – NNPP.
“The Presidential candidates should respect the religious diversity of this country when picking a running mate.
“Of what benefit is there to temporarily win the election and permanently lose the country.
“The president and vice from one religious faith is a recipe for disaster,” he said.
