2023 presidency: What Tinubu told me about ambition – Afenifere leader Fasoranti

Fasoranti

Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti has revealed what National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, told him about his rumoured 2023 presidential ambition.

Although the former Lagos State Governor has publicly said he has not made up his mind on vying for the nation’s number one seat, Fasoranti’s disclosure appears to confirm what many already believe: that Tinubu will contest in 2023.

In an interview with Sunday Vanguard, the nonagenarian urged Nigerians to give Tinubu a chance when he declares his interest in the exalted seat.

Asked if he believed in Tinubu’s candidature if the 2023 presidency were zoned to the South, Fasoranti said, “I am not a member of his party but I have interacted with him. He means well, we may try him.”

Expressing support for rotational presidency in Nigeria, the Afenifere leader said, “Rotational (presidency) is better because if you want to follow one pattern, rigging will take place and the powers-that-be will continue to rule. As we have seen now, power will remain in the North unless something is done. They will rig. They will use money to influence voters. It is either we have an agreement to rotate or something happens.”
