Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi says he did not betray National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by declaring for the 2023 presidential ticket of the party.
Like Fayemi, Tinubu is seeking to become the presidential flagbearer of the party.
However, he said that since the presidency is not an inheritance, it would be wrong for anyone to accuse him of betraying the former Lagos governor.
Fayemi stated this on Wednesday night during an appearance on a Channels Television programme.
The Ekiti governor, who officially joined the presidential race yesterday, said, “The Asiwaju that I know and have interacted with will not subscribe to demonising anyone. I don’t believe that he would use terminologies like betrayal, this is not an inheritance; it is not a traditional title that we are seeking.
“The office that we are seeking is to make a difference in the lives of Nigerians. It is about Nigeria which is the commonwealth of all Nigerians.”
