President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated that he has no preferred candidate going into the 2023 general election, noting that he would hand over to whomever Nigerians elect.
Buhari made the clarification on Monday in an interaction with newsmen shortly after observing Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Mambilla barracks parade ground in Abuja.
He also urged the Nigerian security agencies to redouble their efforts in the fight against criminality.
The president maintained that his administration would continue to do its best to ensure Nigerians can go about their daily lives without fear.
“We’ll continue to make the environment secure, especially when the rainy season is coming so that farmers can go back to their farms and we wouldn’t have problems of food security.
“Heads of the services — army, navy, air force, the inspector-general of police, and so on — are very much aware of the situation. It’s their duty to know where the terrorists are and eliminate them,” the president said.
