Olaiya

Veteran actor, Ebun Oloyede popularly known as Olaiya, has explained why he went naked to pray for President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.

Olaiya’s apology is contained in a video currently circulating on the internet.

Recall that the actor attracted a barrage of criticism ahead of the 2023 polls after a video of him going butt naked at the beach while praying for Tinubu surfaced online.

Many of the actor’s fans expressed dismay at the video, which some tagged “demeaning”.

Explaining his decision, Olaiya said that his action was inspired by his desire to show appreciation to Tinubu for his financial support for his medical expenses.

He added that he got a revelation to go naked to pray for Tinubu at the beach.

Olaiya said, “When Tinubu was aspiring to become president, I got a revelation that, based on what he had done for me concerning my health, I should do so, so and so for him at the beach. And I did just that.

“After I did it, I got a lot of insults and curses but I didn’t take it to heart because it wasn’t totally unexpected because I am a popular person because of my acting career.

“And those that didn’t expect such from me must have been taken aback, wondering what pushed me into such.

“I am quite sure that the insults and curses emanated from those in the opposition and some within the ruling party…”
